REL Predictive Analytics exists to propel NFCU’s data-driven decision-making culture by providing accurate and trustworthy forecasts to its stakeholders, thus providing actionable insights that impact our members, employees, and business performance. The Summer Associate will come alongside the Data Scientists to improve existing analysis, forecasting architectures, and dashboards. The Summer Associate will help further the strategic goals and initiatives of the Predictive Analytics Team while developing strong technical, analytical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or later.

Potential Projects

  • Work directly with project leads to understand requirements and propose key analytics solutions to drive effective decision-making and influence business objectives
  • Identify data patterns and trends to answer business questions and improve decision-making
  • Perform complex analytics, statistical modeling, and visualizations on large data sets to support various business operations and organizational objectives
  • Create or assist in the creation of challenger models, which includes the design, development, coding, and evaluation of complex predictive models and algorithms

Responsibilities

  • Retrieve, analyze, and validate data and test accuracy of reported results
  • Work directly with project leads to understand requirements and propose key analytics solutions to drive effective decision-making and influence business objectives
  • Analyze and summarize business operations, customer, and/or economic data in order to improve business intelligence, optimize operating effectiveness, and predict business outcomes
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in team projects and initiatives
  • Effectively communicate data outcomes to business stakeholders and leadership
  • Perform routine assignments with increasing scope and complexity

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Data Science, Analytics, or other related degree
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, VBS, PowerShell, JavaScript, R, etc.)
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with Git for software version control
  • Experience with data visualization (PowerBI, Matplotlib, seaborn)
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts, data structures, and algorithms
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in working with ambiguous problems
  • Interested and excited to collaborate with various business units

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
