Job Summary:

R&D Imagineering Intern- Software Development

Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development is the department within WDI that focuses exclusively on the development of new innovative ideas and technology that support story telling at Disney Parks and Resorts, including cruise ships. R&D collaborates closely with other departments, including the academic branch of Disney Research in applying cutting edge technologies into creative applications.

Much of R&D’s process involves rapid iterative prototyping. After we develop an initial concept, we pool the collective talents of artists, designers, engineers, computer programmers, scientists and fabricators to build a real-world prototype. We then test, refine and re-test these prototypes until we believe an idea is ready to transfer to one of our business partners to ultimately be enjoyed by our guests. Responsibilities This intern will support the development of innovative new Disney entertainment experiences through the creative application of cutting-edge technology. This role assists Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development project teams with hardware/software prototyping and data visualization of new experience concepts and technologies for Disney theme parks, resorts, and experiential entertainment worldwide. A background in software development allows this role to take on project-critical tasks, contributing to ongoing efforts while growing your skills. Successful candidates will possess a blend of creative and technical abilities, demonstrated by past projects showcasing work across creative and engineering disciplines to design, prototype, and deliver technology-driven experiences. You will use hands-on electronics prototyping to help build mock-ups and demonstrations of technology that will explore the future of entertainment.
