The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) keeps our Department of Defense (DoD) customers at the leading edge of technology by designing, demonstrating, and deploying Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) approaches to solve complex remote sensing problems. We are currently seeking a Machine Learning Research Scientist to work in our Beavercreek, Ohio office.

As an ML scientist, you will apply your ML skills to a wide variety of problems and datasets, primarily focused on remote sensing (Synthetic Aperture Radar {SAR}, Electronic Support Measures {ESM}, Lidar, EO/IR, acoustic, RF) applications. Current projects include detection and classification of radar targets. You will bring experience, entrepreneurship, and creativity to our programs. You will interact with customers, lead technical project teams, and help pursue growth in new areas. This position requires most job duties to be performed onsite due to the sensitive nature of this work and the desire for in-person collaboration, however we offer flexible in-office hours and the ability to perform some job duties remotely.

Primary Responsibilities

- Perform research as part of interdisciplinary teams that design, develop, and deploy ML algorithms for DoD remote sensing application, with the opportunity to move into leadership roles on these teams.

- Work with remote sensing and learn to leverage the underlying phenomenology at play

- Effectively present your technical research, impactful results, and insightful recommendations for fruitful follow-on research to our customers.

Basic Qualifications

- A MS or PhD in a scientific field such as computer science, math, data science, physics, or engineering or a Bachelor’s degree with significant research experience

- 2+ years of practical experience applying ML to solve complex signal processing and pattern recognition problems

- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS//SCI Security Clearance

- Experience working and collaborating on multi-disciplinary teams, including leadership roles, and mentoring less experienced scientists

- Proficiency in fundamental signal processing algorithms and concepts

- Experience using Python and common ML packages

Preferred Qualifications

- Has an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

- Experience with MATLAB and object-oriented programming languages such as C++

- 5+ years of practical experience applying state-of-the-art ML and/or deep learning techniques to signal processing and remote sensing applications

- Track record of research in ML technologies with high impact results or publications

- Strong problem solving and algorithm design skills

- Understands how to translate customer requirements and mission needs into end-to-end solutions

- Familiarity with Ground, Air, and Space Target Combat Identification principles

Pay Range:

Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
