Position SummaryThe Data Scientist utilizes machine learning, modeling, analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret data to develop data-driven solutions to improve outcomes.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Performs ad-hoc analysis using domain knowledge and scientific method to answer complex business questions, to test hypotheses, and to drive improvement.
Promotes the use of data driven insights throughout the organization to develop actionable information and drive
improvement.
Partners with senior executives to understand and execute on potential applications of advanced analytics to improve decision
making and to further strategic imperatives.
Conducts technical design, development, validation, delivery, and promotion of analytical solutions.
Establishes and maintains collaborative, supportive, and professional relationships with team members on the team and
throughout the organization.
Promotes data literacy throughout the organization by developing documentation, templates and tools for commonly used
approaches, and by serving as a resource for those in analytical roles throughout the organization.
Applies advanced statistical techniques and concepts (including hypothesis testing, statistical significance, regression, Geospatial
analysis, ANOVA, factor analysis, etc.) as well as emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques.
Participates in the development and operationalization of emerging advanced analytical capabilities.
Applies business acumen and an understanding of commonly used data elements to inform analysis.
Extracts raw data, structured and unstructured, from enterprise systems and other sources and performs data engineering and
curation to facilitate analysis.
Identifies customers' needs and translates them into statistical research questions, technical requirements, and user stories.
Assists in new team member on-boarding and in providing analytical, methodological, and career development support to junior
team members.
Applies models, and data analysis methodologies to identify patterns and trends in large data.
Develops standard data models, algorithms, and reports and develops and tests measurement and predictive and classification
models.
Develops code that is robust, reusable, and well-documented.
Maintains proficiency with business intelligence and statistical applications (i.e., Power BI, Qlik, R, SPSS, AMOS, or similar tools).
Applies Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and Natural Language Processing
(NLP) techniques (sentiment analysis, decision trees, random forests, Naïve Bayes classifiers, k-nearest neighbor, logistic
regression, and linear regression) in Python (Pandas, Sci Kit Learn, Microsoft Cognitive Services, etc.).
Utilizes data and computing capabilities in Azure cloud or AWS with common technologies (Databricks, Synapse, etc.).
Uses clear and concise verbal and written communication skills to translate methodologies and analytical results into nontechnical business insights presented through data stories.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal,
state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or Statistics and/or related
quantitative field.
Experience
Five (5) years’ work experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem solving, operations analysis,
simulation and/or predictive analytics. superior analytical skills with diverse analytics and statistical software and applications.
Five (5) years’ experience working in related job function and industry.
Healthcare or life science experience preferred
