Description

The Epidemiology department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health is seeking a Data Scientist. The person in this position will work to improve existing data management systems, provide reporting support, and conduct statistical analyses for two established randomized clinical trials. Duties include using reproducible research methods to develop programs to process and manipulate large datasets; preparing reports with tabular and graphical presentations; and developing statistical and mathematical models. The candidate will be responsible for statistical analysis, study design, testing, documentation, and evidence of efficacy. Candidate must have experience working within a team environment, yet independently, be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. The candidate must have experience designing, conducting, and interpreting statistical analyses using common statistical software tools (e.g., SAS, R) and techniques including regression modeling, longitudinal analysis, survival analysis, machine learning, and Bayesian analysis methods. In addition, the incumbent must be proficient in report generation, databases, and data visualization.

 

Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Information Science or related field with at least 5 years of experience in data analysis, or information technology; or a Doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Mathematics, Information Science, Data Sciences, or related field.
