At FM Global, we are leading the way in using intelligent insights to better understand and mitigate risk exposures at our client locations. By leveraging technology and scalable business processes, the IoT & Digital Assessment team within Engineering is spearheading the effort to transform the way we assess risk. This data science intern will assist in moving us further along that path as we bring mathematics, scripting, and analysis to bear.
Responsibilities:
The Data Science Intern will work closely with the IoT & Digital Assessment team withing Engineering to sharpen our focus and understanding of the remote assessment process and impact. This role will interface with our R&D efforts for innovating on computer vision, geospatial AI, and location assessments in general. Tasks will consist of data analysis, extracting insights, and informing the next wave of strategy in this space.
The data science intern is a practical technologist that can identify relevant analytical approaches to solving business problems. This intern role is hands-on and contributes directly to the success of the team, acquires domain knowledge, and further sharpens analytical skills. This work will report to the manager of IoT & Digital Assessments.
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate program for applied computational mathematics, data science, or engineering.
- Hard skills: experience with programming (python), data analysis (excel), machine learning (computer vision), etc.
- Soft skills: self-driven, self-starter, logic-based problem solving. An excellent communicator and team player.
The hiring range for this position is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. The final salary offer will vary based on geographic location, individual education, skills, and experience.
